Eastman Shuangwei Fibers Co., Ltd. is the result of the first cooperation between China National Tobacco Corporation and the US-based Eastman Chemical on cellulose acetate tows. It is also an important part of their strategic partnership in the new era.
Eastman Shuangwei Fibers Co., Ltd. was founded in Hefei of China on May 30 in 2011. It has four shareholders: China Shuangwei Investment Corporation, Eastman Chemical HK Limited, China Tobacco Anhui Industry Corporation and Bester Development Co., Ltd. The company has erected a joint factory in Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone (between west of Lianhua Road and South of Yungu Road). The factory, to be finished in June 2013, will occupy an area of 200mu (1mu = 666.67m2) and produce 30,000 tons of two cellulose acetate tows each year. The total investment will amount to RMB1.58 bn.
The two cellulose acetate tow is a main ingredient in production of cigarette filters. Being environment friendly, non-toxic, odorless, and of good thermal stability, it can also choose to absorb harmful elements in tobacco to reduce the danger of smoking. Considering its great economic and social benefit, China is encouraging investment in two cellulose acetate tows.
The company will adapt to Chinese and American cultures to create a splendid future as a "world’s leading acetate fiber manufacturer with sustainable development" in a core value of "safety, teamwork, professionalism, and excellence".
